Paul Weiner - Principal Architect
I came to Tucson and the Sonoran Desert many years ago as an impressionable 18-year old from the Midwest looking for meaning and drawn to find home in the wild beauty and landscape of the West. Over the years, my perception of this magnificent place continues to expand, ever drawn in to the poetry of a desert that never ceases to reveal its beauty.

A humanistic upbringing, a degree in Environmental Planning, a formative stint as a carpenter/builder and a subsequent degree in Architecture from the University of Arizona, laid the foundation for the beginnings of the DesignBuild Collaborative in 1984. Over the years, my love of the desert and my reliance on natural and constructed beauty as a personal elixir, along with a carpenter’s passion for process and craft formed the foundation of a multi-year alliance with many passionate and talented architects and builders. Today I am honored to share this practice with a delightful and dedicated group of committed professionals.

As the principal architect/builder for DBC, I keep current licensure as an architect and Residential/Commercial General Contractor, and when time permits teach a Land Ethics design studio as an Adjunct Lecturer in the College of Architecture at the University of Arizona.
